Why Join Us

There's a reason people describe Ilfracombe Yacht Club as one of the town's best-kept secrets — and once you're a member, you get to stop keeping it a secret. Perched right on The Quay with harbour views to the front and the Bristol Channel and the Welsh coast from our rear terrace, IYC is a small club with a big welcome.

Membership isn't just for people who sail. Whether you race every weekend or just fancy a friendly bar with a view and a full calendar of things to do, there's a place for you here.

As a member, you'll get:

–     Full access to the clubhouse, bar and rear terrace, any time we're open

–     Discounted drinks and event prices

–     A full social calendar — BBQs, live music, guest speakers, traditional annual celebrations, and our weekly raffle

–     Access to club racing and our flagship Round Lundy Yacht Race

–     Privileged dinghy storage (sailing members)

–     Y Sail sailing school places for younger family members

–     Preferential rates on function room hire for your own celebrations

–     A genuinely friendly welcome — many of our members say it's the people, as much as the view, that keep them coming back

Sailing or Social — whichever suits you

–     Sailing Members — for those who want to race, cruise, store a dinghy with us, and get involved in the club's racing programme, including the Round Lundy Yacht Race.

–     Social Members — full access to the club, bar, terrace and events calendar, with no requirement to sail at all.

The price is the same, you choose how you want to use the club.

How It Works

  1. Pick the type of membership you want and note the price.

  2. Fill in the short application form below (takes about five minutes). Alternatively, use the download button to obtain a form you can print and submit.

  3. A committee member will be in touch to welcome you and confirm your membership type and payment. If you require a Dinghy space we will advise you of availability. You can go ahead with membership and add a dinghy space later when one becomes available.

  4. Once confirmed, you're a full member — come in any time and introduce yourself at the bar.

“Prefer to do this in person? That's absolutely fine — pop in and ask at the bar for an application form.”
